What do I plant and when do I plant it?

It is possible to create colour and interest in your garden all year round, using structure, texture, contrasting plant and foliage shapes and interesting colour combinations. The flowering season is not just summer-long. It starts in winter with gorgeous, sweetly-scented winter-flowering shrubs, then on to early spring bulbs, then the floral feast really kicks in well into autumn when flowers are still around but additional interest is provided by turning foliage, berries and fruit, seedheads and bark.

If you are generally happy with the layout of your garden, a change of view from a window or seating area can make a big difference. Good Earth can create planting plans for single beds or particular areas of a garden, taking into account the soil type, sun or shade, aspect and local conditions. Whether the area is a typically difficult area such as dry shade, or poor soil, or whether you have a rich loam in full sun, planting suggestions can be made that will suit any situation in your garden. Your soil may benefit, for example, by incorporating large quantities of manure or sharp sand prior to planting, or providing some irrigation, and if this is the case we can do this for you.

Once we have discussed and agreed on the general feel of the planting,
we produce a detailed planting plan and planting schedule, outlining the exact quantities and position of each suggested plant. We source (using local nurseries where possible) the plants and deliver (or arrange delivery) of the plants to your garden and plant them. Once your garden has been planted, we offer a maintenance service and will make regular visits to check on progress.
